I do yoga and pilates and I want to start running?

I used to walk everyday but I took up yoga and pilates and I did not have time for a 40 minute walk everyday anymore. I want to start running or jogging because I would have time to run for at most 20 minutes a day. How do I start? Do I do yoga and pilates before running? What should I eat and how much should I drink before I run?

  1. You should do yoga/pilates before running, so you can warm up a bit and reduce the chance of injury. As for what to eat, stick with not eating too much right before running. Try a good food high in carbs, like a banana right before your run.

  2. 1)walk every other day for 15 minutes
    2)after about 5 weeks add 1 minute slooooooow jogging
    3)add 1 minute every 2 weeks until you can do a slow jog for 15 minutes
    4)if you rush it you will get injured and will not be running a year later
