I heard that treating Hyperthyroidism with Western medicine often time causes you to have Hypothyroidism. I just started to treat my Hyperthyroidism using Chinese medicine, but I always am tempted to go for aropathiuc medicine.
The medical option are limited and not too helpful. Does anyone know of a good method of treatment available?
In my particular case, the muscle has been constantly hurting for a few years now, but I have full function and range of motion. There’s just always a slight soreness and it’s annoying. From my sports medicine experience, I think it’s a knot that just won’t go away.

Had it for 3 years – I used an anti-fungal toenail lacquer for 9 months, but it’s still there. I am pregnant and not meant to use lacquer any more so is there an alternative treatment. The whole nail is yellow and now peeling away.
I am interested in getting my Master’s in Traditional Chinese medicine but am very wary of job opportunities. It appears to me that many Chinese herbalists are self employed. Self employment is very difficult and I’d rather be hired by an employer of some large health corporation such as Kaiser or UCSF Medical center. So my question is, is it possible to be employed with a Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine or am I pretty much stuck with private practice or office jobs?

Mr E: I guess you are not across the Simon Singh/British Chiropractic Association issue. The problem there is that chiropractor members of the self regulating organisation have been making bogus claims in their marketing about being able to heal childhood diseases, like asthma. This is a good example of a requirement for proper regulation. Thanks to Simon and others, one out of four chiropractors are now under investigation in the UK.
Aristo, thanks for the answer, but clearly alt med is unable to regulate itself in terms of its lack of efficacy, RCTs, safety, bogus claims and products, etc. So who should be policing all these things? So far the consumer only have the skeptics on their side.
Lightning: I think you are trying to make individual cases to muddy the waters. Surely if alt med in general is making health claims, then in the public’s interest they should be governed by the same general regulation as mainstream medicine, which also makes health claims? And I’m sure osteopaths, if they meet the proper criteria could be represented in the regulatory authority.
