Aren’t calories a b*tch? How do YOU make sure you don’t overdo it?
Posted in Ayurveda on 09/10/2010 01:04 pm by HolisticLivingThis is what I ate/am going to eat today:
Breakfast:
Medium sized bowl of cheerios with skimmed (fat free/very low fat) milk
Fruit herbal tea
Lunch:
Leaf salad
Linguine with pieces of fish in oil of some kind (had this in a restaurant, couldn’t exactly ask for them to cook it with no oil, without looking like a weirdo)
Tiramisu (average portion size)
Dinner:
Chicken breast with homemade pesto
Pasta twists
Pitta bread (1)
Olive oil (table spoonful with the pitta)
Evening:
2 (8th) glasses of sweet white wine
Soda lemon/diet coke
All of this was apparently 2180 calories!!! (though I burned off 150, in the gym after breakfast).
Ridiculous though right? I think it’s hard to estimate if you are eating too much or too little.. Most of what I ate was pretty healthy, it’s not like I had chocolate bars or chips etc..
How do you make sure you are eating ok without counting calories meticulously?

I think what you have eaten/will eat is good. Sounds like you know what is healthy and what isn’t healthy so carry on doing what you are doing. It is hard to estimate how many calories you are eating though, best thing is not to worry and to try and eat a balanced diet. Calories are a pain though!!

Let me explain to you my wierd body.
Whenever I try and control what I eat so I can lose weight, I gain weight. Whenever I don’t care what I eat, I lose weight. I discovered this 6 months ago. So far, I’ve lost 15 pounds lol.
5’6″ & 150lbs to 5’6″ & 135 lbs.
No joke. Anyway, I also do a lot of physical things like run and workout. And I only drink soda whenever my parents buy soda, and that’s not always everyweek.

If you took Biology 101, you would know that calories aren’t such a b****. You wouldn’t even count them.
Eating sugar triggers your pancreas to produce insulin.
Insulin is the hormone responsible for stocking fat into fat cells.
Therefore, no sugar = no insulin = no fat
Okay, it’s only theorical, which means you always have a certain quantity of insulin in your body, but it stays low if you don’t eat sweet stuff … But, it still means that no matter if you eat 200 or 2,000 calories, you won’t gain more weight if there is no sugar in that food.
Cheerios are loaded with tons of sugar, even skimmed milk contains about 10-12 grams per serving. White pasta … Tiramitsu … More pasta … Sweet wine … DAMN !

I eat a ton of small 100 calorie meals [7 a day once an hour] and then twice a day I eat 300 calorie meal. I have nine meals a day totaling to 1300 calories. I’m always stuffed and I’ve lost a lot of weight since my metabolism is always breaking down food (:
